"SIlence & Noise"
April 3*-May 29, 2014
Free opening reception Saturday, April 19, 6-8 p.m.
"Silence and Noise" is an all media juried exhibit featuring 50 artworks that reflect the push/pull of noise or silence. The two concepts of opposites are examined in this exhibit, showing how silence and noise work both as a force against and alongside one another.
*This exhibit actually opened a couple of weeks earlier than scheduled, so it is up & ready for viewing as of April 3. The opening reception is still on April 19, 6-8 p.m. Regular Gallery hours are M 7 a.m.-4 p.m., Tu-Fr 7 a .m.-5 p.m. & Sat. 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. FREE & open to the public.
Artworks featured in this exhibit are either comprised of clean, simple lines and are visually silent, or the artworks aremulti-layered, messy and thereby visually noisy. Works that are conceptually silent or noisy are also featured. Artists were encouraged to interpret the theme from their own directions, using the focus of their media to emphasize their own individual styles as it applied to this theme.

COFFEE WITH THE ARTISTS: SATURDAY GALLERY TALK
Join us in the Gallery on Saturday, May 3 when we host a free one-hour Gallery talks at 11 a.m. with two of the featured artists from the Silence & Noise exhibit. This is a walk-and-talk presentation and our artists will discuss their artworks in the Gallery (so, what that means is that this is not a seated lecture--although several chairs are available). In addition to discussing their works on exhibit, the aritsts may bring samples of additional works and talk about technique and media.
Guests will also be provided with a complimentary coffee tasting courtesy of Mississippi Mud Coffee Roasters.
